Getting Organised

Using a Day Planner and Planning the night before |

Day Planner - Getting Organised - Website Design CessnockAfter many to-do lists, notebooks,  post-it notes, whiteboard messages and  corkboards, I finally have myself into a system that works well really well.   As ridiculous as it may sound a $3.00 day planner from Office works which you can view and purchase here:  [Officeworks Quill A4 Daily Planner 50 Sheets]  and making the religious efforts plan the following day the night before or days before.  I have been so much more productive.

Day Planner

I found through my own work, that I have things that pop up through the day that need to either be added to my day planner or that I need to allocate time for in the coming days, I also  find that I am forever looking for my “Call Book” where I jot down notes  when I get phone calls from a client that I need to remember but don’t neccessarily need that piece of information right this second.    So I created this version myself this evening to see how this goes. I’ve left it as a Microsoft Word document so others can take the file and modify it to suit their needs.
Day Planner Template with To-Do Notes
As an after thought, the document could use more solid outlines as I find that it doesn’t stand out as much whilst sitting on the desk as the bought version.

Anyway guys, hope this helps 🙂

A way Facebook Fans have more control!

With Facebook minimising
the ability for Business Owners to reach their fan base, with the
introduction of the “PROMOTE” functionality where by business owners are
required to pay for their visibility, by standard, less than 10% of
fans on any given page will see a given post at any one time.

At present, our testing shows that even with our 3700+ Facebook Fans.  our
regular posts are only seen by 150-200 Facebook fans, some of those are
not even guaranteed to be on our fan list.

With that said, Fans and Business Owners alike have been trying to work
out means to utilise the system to their best advantage, and although
Facebook haven’t made it easy. Natalie Crowe Designs has put together a
short introduction on how YOU can get the most out of the pages visible
from your personal account. Businesses can also advise their fans to
take action as well.

The steps below will ensure you get all the latest information from
Natalie Crowe Designs; your one stop shop when it comes to getting a

Time to set this weeks goals

As a means of focusing on being more productive, I’ve started pre-organising my week. Scheduling  events if I can help it and working with my time more efficiently.

I have been working on a list of tasks to complete which I have been  diligently working on, however whilst completing client paid work and my Search Engine Optimisation course, it’s been a slightly heavy workload.

‘They’ believe that you should in order to achieve something you need to take ACTION and  realistically unless it’s life threatening, you should really only be spending 30-90 seconds to make a decision.  You can always CHANGE that decision if it’s not working out.  But 90 second tops!

I made the decision this morning that I was going to take action and make a move on some of the tasks I had been procrastinating on for my own business and needed to make a move on for my client’s businesses.

5 Main Goals for this week.

1) Review & Complete outstanding modules for the SEO Course we’re completing by 5pm Thursday

2) Update NCD website with new portfolio items to generate more interest in the business.
Posting 20 updated client project photos by 5pm Tuesday afternoon.

EDIT:  ACTION TAKEN – I have completed the main part of this goal, but I’d like to style the gallery to make it more visually appealing.   Portfolio can be found here

3) Create achievable to-do list template to aid productivity:

You can download our basic template here:  Monday To Do List
We have created individual files for each day, but it’s just a matter of going in and changing the day.

4) Review and recreate NCD questionnaire with more focus on goals and benefits of our services rather technical jargon – Goal : to be more user friendly – by Wednesday 5pm

5) Write Minimum 2 new blog posts before 5pm friday.
although we’ve successfully completed this  goal TODAY,  I’d like to continue to post twice a day, and modify the goal  from posting twice a day  to sharing minimum of 2 blog posts a week.

Bonus:

6) By 5pm Friday I will have a schedule drafted for 22nd – 27th of October.

This is in addition to our regular client work.

Have An Existing VistaPrint website?

After being approached by several clients in the last few weeks we’ve been researching the best way to solve the following situation:

“Hi Nat, I have an existing website that I setup with vistaprint. I’ve got and email address using the website address (domain) in addition having the website address on all of my business cards and advertising material, so I really don’t want to lose the website address, but I am not happy with my website. What other options do I have? is it easier just to start a new website?  Thanks Mel ”

Starting from Scratch.

Requesting VISTA PRINT release your domain name (website address).

We recently contact vista print with the following email:

” How would I go about transferring my domain to another service provider? I have branded my business including my cards with the domain registered with Vista Print but would like to use my domain with an alternative service Kind Regards Nat ”

 Vista Print Reply today:

We have received your request
to transfer your domain name you have registered with Vistaprint to another
registrar. Vistaprint can release the domain to you, but you must transfer the
domain to a new registrar. The transfer deadline is the anniversary date of when
you signed up for it on.

Please read the information below. If you would like to release the domain to
you, please send a confirmation email and we will add your Domain Transfer
Package to your Shopping Cart. Releasing the domain will not cancel your current
website or business email address. To cancel go to My Services, then Account
Information and follow the self-cancellation path.

The domain registry requires that your domain name has been registered for at
least 60 days before you can transfer it to another registrar. This is industry
protocol, not a Vistaprint requirement.

The general process is as follows:

  1. Release Payment: Pay an administrative fee to release the domain name from
Vistaprint. The cost is $29.99. You are purchasing the right to the name, not
    the registration.
  2. Email Instructions: Once we process your payment for the release, you will
receive an email with a user name and password for OpenSRS and transfer
instructions. The following are the two main steps to transfer the domain.
  3. Opensrs:

    1. Contact Information: Go to https://manage.opensrs.net and update your
contact records using the user name and password in the email you received from
Vistaprint. Make sure to update all contact types (Administrative, Technical,
and Billing). Vistaprint will remain the Organization Contact until the domain
is completely transferred. All email communication from Opensrs will be sent to
the person listed as the Administrative Contact.
    2. Unlock Domain: Go to Domain Locking and make sure domain locking is
      disabled.
    3. Authorization Code / EPP code: For com, .net, .org, .info, and .us domain
names, you will need a code for the new registrar. It can be found under Domain
      Extras.
Additional Instructions: Follow any other instructions sent to you
      by email from OpenSRS.
  4. Transfer to New Registrar:

    1. Contact Information: If you haven’t done so already, sign up for a new
registrar and domain transfer at the registrar’s website.
    2. Nameserver Information: Get the nameserver information for the new registrar
and go back to OpenSRS and enter it under Manage Name Servers.
    3. Additional Instructions: Follow any additional instructions they send by
      email.

Transfer the domain to your new registrar as soon as possible. If you don’t
transfer before the domain expires on the anniversary date when you signed up
for it on , your domain will become inactive and you’ll have 30 days after the
expiration to complete the transfer process before your domain name goes back
into the pool where another person can take it.

We hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact us if
you have any further questions.
